Neon version 1.0 released
I'm happy to have finally removed the "beta" badge from Neon, and have proudly released Neon version 1.0 stable.
The change is mostly symbolic: very little has changed in the main development of Neon since this site was first launched with what was then dubbed "1.0 beta 1". This reflects Neon's stable API and feature set, and its desire to remain small.
Version 1.0 still supports the current version of modern browsers (including Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox and Safari) as well as Internet Explorer all the way back to version 6.
Changes since version 1.0 beta 2 can be found in the release notes.
Future of Neon
Dropping support for Internet Explorer 6 and 7 (but retaining support for Internet Explorer 8) is a high priority for future versions of Neon. This will allow me to shrink the codebase significantly - currently to about 2.3 Kb when minified and gzipped. Developers may preview this in action by obtaining the source code from GitHub.
Version 1.0 will continue to be updated when necessary to fix any major bugs arising for the foreseeable future, for those who still want to support Internet Explorer 6 and 7.
